Training and Continuing Education
We provide training opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students, as well as professional conferences, workshops, and speakers for educators, mental health professionals, and health professionals from Western New York and Southwestern Ontario.
Undergraduate, Graduate and Professional Students Opportunities:
Trainings are provided through research assistantship during the academic year and Summer Treatment Program during the summer.- Research Assistantship
Available for undergraduate students seeking experience with research in the field of child clinical psychology in exchange for class credit.Students will work on a variety of projects completing tasks, such as data collection, entry and analysis and many of the other details required to complete research.| Download Application (PDF) | More info | - Summer Treatment Program
Applications are now being accepted for Undergraduate Counselors, Research Assistants,and Developmental Aides for the CCF Summer Treatment Program. Students receive either a stipend or course credit as compensation.

2008 Speaker Series Schedule - Biennial Niagara Conference on Evidence-Based Treatments
for Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health
An international interdisciplinary conference focusing on state-of-the-art, evidence-based treatments for mental health problems in children and adolescents. Didactic lectures and hands-on experience will be combined to teach interested professionals the basic principles of effective psychosocial, pharmacological, and combined treatments, including child-based treatments, classroom management, school-wide interventions, and parent training.
2007 Biennial Niagra Conference - Training in Behavior Modification for Mental Health Professionals
Staff members from the CCF conduct annual training sessions for agencies who are setting up and running Summer Treatment Programs. Participants receive at least 45 hours of intensive instruction and practice in principles of behavior modification and application of behavioral techniques in a naturalistic, recreationally-based setting. In addition, participants complete self-study and homework assignments to learn the information presented in the comprehensive 429-page treatment program manual. Mental health professionals who are interested in this intensive training may also attend the training session.
For more information about availability, schedules and fees, contact the CCF. - Speakers for Parent Groups Our staff is available to provide educational programs at no cost to parent groups in Western New York to address issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of children with ADHD and other behavioral problems. Interested groups should contact the CCF three to six months in advance with tentative dates, times, size and composition of the group.
